Just a heads-up that from this Saturday until the end of July I'll be out of the country doing some humanitarian work in Sri Lanka. So if ya'll have any moderating needs in that time, please direct them to our hard-working administrator, Mr. James B. W. Bevis.

Look forward to sharing some pictures and a few stories with everyone when I return. In the mean time, make sure to enjoy the marathon for me

I don't want to hijack Ryan's thread, but this seems a good place to assure members that I am indeed around and reading the board, even though I haven't posted in a while. So please do feel free to contact me about anything. You'll see me posting more often, too.

I didn't intend to take a break around this time, let alone such a long one, but sometimes things just gradually work out that way. I appreciate Ryan for making this breather possible, and, as I've told him, I hope he has another great experience in Sri Lanka.

Most of my work this time was focused on conducting research for a grant I received from the University of Nebraska (my paper is focused on property rights as they relate to economic development), but I'm hoping to turn some of that data around to raise money to expand access to clean drinking water in rural areas. In the meantime, I'm just glad to be home

Huh, looks like something odd happened to that picture... think I fixed it now. The reason I say "still operating" is because the plant is obviously in a terrible state of disrepair, in part due to neglect and in part due to damages incurred during Sri Lanka's 26 year long civil war (during which the mill doubled as an artillery base for the government forces).
